We love Zeus and up until last week I would have said he was a gentle giant who was protective of his home. He became aggressive with two strangers coming onto our property and ended up biting each within two days of each other. We have two other mastiffs and 2 kids (9 and 7) and he has been great with them but something has changed him. Animal control wants us to either put him down or find another home for him that can provide him some intensive behaviour training. We honestly, as much as I love him and would like to, simply do not have time to do the training that they want us to do. He is a big (160lb) lovable, very loyal, puppy that needs some serious training to stop being fearful aggressive (term the animal control used). We have 4 acres and usually let him roam but now we have to keep him locked up and do the training with him. With kids, other dogs, full time jobs and a new business venture we can't do that right now. I think he is trainable and needs a loving person who has time to spend with him and provide him the training that we didn't give him. I hope to find someone in the next two weeks. (Less)

Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Alaska if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
