Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Sugarpie. We think that she is a Lab/Mastiff mix. She was born in mid-August, 2017. Sugarpie is as sweet as her name. She is great with other dogs and cats. She is shy with new people, but we are working in this. She will appreciate a home that takes it slow at first. Sugarpie is fully house and crate trained, and knows the commands: inside, outside, come, nite-nite (crate), and her name. She hasn't yet learned about the leash. She is very calm and thoughtful, and at ease so long as she is near familiar people/dogs. She enjoys stretching her long body out for belly rubs and snoozing. Sugarpie expresses herself with her snout, butting ... (Read More)you gently when she needs something. She follows her humans everywhere, like a shadow, and enjoys chewy toys. Sugarpie is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations. She is ready to meet potential adopters in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Wall-E. We think that handsome boy is a Lab/Mastiff mix. He was born in mid-August, 2017. Wall-E is good with everyone, but is shy and needs time to warm up to them. He's great with our large-ish dogs, cats, everyone he's met, which hasn't been a whole lot of kids (but a few), and he just needs time to acclimate then he's all snuggles. He is house and crate trained, knows commands: inside, outside, come, nite-nite (crate), and his name obviously. He hasn't been on a leash yet. He gets nervous (whines, wants to snuggle) in the car, but doesn't freak out. When he's unsure about something, or needs something, he cries. Lately, his crying ... (Read More)has been morphing into talking. He's found his big voice, too, helping his dog buddies fend off the evil mailman and trashman. He's a great jumper, easily clearing a 2-foot obstacle from a standstill. He's a long guy, and enjoys having room to stretch out, especially when napping. He uses his paws and voice to communicate. He's very playful and cuddly. Wall-E is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations. Wall-E is ready to meet potential adopters in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required.     Tank and Bear are brother and sister. We would ideally like them to go to the same home. However, if that is not possible we are looking for a loving home for these two pups. They are great dogs, we just no longer have the space in our home for them. We moved into a much smaller house with a much smaller yard. They are very calm and don't require a ton of activity.

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi! I'm Hector, and I'm a Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff) mix and I am a big hunk of burnin' love! I am an awesome dog! I'm about 6 years old, neutered, current on shots and microchipped. One word that describes me: MELLOW! All I want to do is lay around. I have a neurological condition that affects my motor skills. Because of this, I don't do well around other dogs, and I shouldn't be in a home with small children. I love my squeaky toys and my crate. I just hang out there. You don't even have to close the door. I also love sunning myself, playing in the water hose and belly rubs. So, if you're an one-dog type of home without small children ... Rescue Me ID: 17-12-05-00118Belveder (male)

Mastiff    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Belveder is a gorgeous male Dogo Argentino Mastiff approx. 4 years old. He is a large muscular dog, 100 plus pounds. He needs to be the only animal/ pet. He gets along with kids fine, but we prefer a family with no young children due to his size. His adopter must be an experience dog owner that can take charge and guide him. The property that he will need to live on must be with a secured tall fence preferably where he will not be up against neighboring animals. Belverder is housebroke, leash and crate trained and knows basic commands. Neutered, chipped with rabies and shots current. He travels well and we are seeking an adopter that can ... (Read More)give him an active lifestyle and we would like to see his training furthered with a trainer. Belveder's adoption fee is 799.00. For more info, contact Carol 760-646-3309 Breed Information: The Dogo Argentino is not an appropriate choice for a first-time dog owner. He is big, powerful, intelligent, energetic, and headstrong. A Dogo needs a leader who can guide him with firmness and consistency without using force or cruelty. The Dogo has a high activity level and needs a job to do, which can be anything from being your on-leash hiking or jogging companion. He will not be satisfied to lie around and do nothing. The Dogo has a high prey drive, a strong protective instinct, and a territorial nature, so he needs a strong, high fence to keep him on his own property. This breed was traditionally used to hunt big game in Argentina. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-29-00141Sir Harley (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sir Harley has manners. We were worried he had an infection when he didn't pee his first 24 hours with us. As it turns out, he simply prefers not to urinate in the presence of a lady. We also learned he has a bladder of steel. Sir Harley is tolerant. After appreciating the beauty and smells of the outdoors yesterday, Sir Harley brought a few undesirable scents back with him. He acknowledged his fate when we closed the bathroom door behind him and he accepted it with grace. Sir Harley does not complain. He never told us about his knees. Only X-rays informed us of the pain he felt. Sir Harley has since received multiple corrective surgeries, ... (Read More)compliments of Shadow's Fund, and has remained a ray of smiley sunshine throughout rehabilitation and crate rest.%A0 Sir Harley is the strong silent type. He snores like a bear but hasn't barked or whined once since claiming our living room as his study. (Amended: Skateboarders befuddle him and he will bork at them to explain themselves). Sir Harley is grateful. He is so expressive in his gratitude; in fact, he has an injury called 'happy tail.' Breakfast? GRATEFUL. Pets? GRATEFUL. Walkies? GRATEFUL. Nap time? GRATEFUL. Eye contact? GRATEFUL. (In Harley's everlasting gratitude, his happy tail was unable to heal so Shadow's Fund addressed it. Harley now displays his gratitude with a happy wiggle butt). Sir Harley is polite. Yesterday morning at roughly%A06am, Sir Harley's steel bladder needed a release. He didn't bark, whine, jump or lick - he just sat down at the head of the bed and smiled until the message was received (he knows we got new carpet this year). Sir Harley makes friends wherever he goes. People? Yes please. Dogs? Better say hi. Cats? The more the merrier. Sir Harley makes everyone feel welcome. As a one-dog welcoming committee, there is no door greeter as wiggly as Sir Harley. If retail stores had Sir Harley mascots, the American economy would be repaired in a matter of days. Sir Harley is monogamous. He finds joy in all human interaction but what he really wants is a warm bed and his one true love (that's you - and maybe a small pup or some kitty cat sidekicks). Sir Harley is charismatic - I ran a few errands today and came home to see EVAN being escorted down the sidewalk by SIR HARLEY. This is a first. Evan does not leash dogs and take them outside. Harley is officially the first to persuade him to do so. Sir Harley does not beg. He understands that 'no means no' and he will not push the issue on that pint of Ben N Jerry's. Bonus: He won't shame you for eating it all in one sitting either. He knows you are beautiful at any size. Sir Harley rolls with the flow. You wanna sleep all day? So does he. You wanna party outside? So does he. You wanna have an existential crisis because life is an illusion? Sir Harley knows you will calm down if you rub his belly and he will offer it to you gladly. Sir Harley will make some man or woman very lucky when they welcome this class act gentle giant into their home. (Less)

Rudy is a great dog with a huge personality. 90 pounds of love. He just needs a nice quite home with someone to be by his side. He's great with submissive dogs, but has gotten in a few fights with aggressive dogs. His best friends are two weiner dogs and a friendly female pit. He has bad anxieties in my new house near the freeway. All the noises scare him and he hurts himself trying to get out every time I leave him. It breaks my heart but I think he would be happier in another loving home with a little more peace and quite. Great around kids, loves long walks, and drives in the car.

Bear is a two year old larger male mixed breed dog. He is about 75 pounds and has a short haired, dark brindle coat. He could have some Mastiff in his mix, possibly some Bull Dog, likely some Pit Bull. This big boy is consistently very friendly with dogs of all sizes, from the tiny breeds and puppies to dogs closer to his own size. Occasionally people ask us about dogs that look intimidating without actually being so; this is one of those dogs. He is happiest when he gets to go out for a walk with one of the other dogs or visit with the puppies in the play yard. Bear is a strong dog, but with regular exercise and some consistent training, ... (Read More)his leash manners will continue to improve. Our volunteers have been surprised that he is easier to walk than they have expected, just based on his size. He also has a good sit, responds well to direction and is affectionate. Come meet this big fellow and be surprised at what a nice dog he is! Do to his size, probably not a candidate for a home with small children; older children should be fine. (Less)

Axel is in need of help. He is a lovely, year old Boerboel, who was imported from Egypt. After he arrived, the owner allowed him to jump from the rear of a truck, Axel slipped and hit his knee on the tow hitch. Owner did not take Axel to the vet, but instead crated him for the next two months to avoid watching him limp. It is unknown if the injury is what caused his sale, which is how I met Axel. Axel had severe atrophy is his rear end and a major limp in his back right leg. I took Axel to the only vet open on a Sunday, who diagnosed him with a torn cruciate ligament, he put him on pain meds and I declined surgery, as I wanted a second ... (Read More)opinion. I took him to my vet 3 days later and something much different was seen. Axels kneecap had been pushed off to the side of his knee and had adhered to the outside of the bones. We have spent the last 2 months getting some muscle back in the leg, he now weight bares on the leg and is overall a much happier boy, but he needs more that we cannot afford. He is a lovely dog to everything and he's only a baby at a year old. He deserves a chance, I loathe the thought of putting this very special boy down, but he can't stay like his. He has a major problem keeping weight on, even though he eats well, I believe the pain plays a large part in that. The 2 options that my vet has given me are, a full knee replacement, or stem cell therapy at the least. Right now he is on pain management and doing therapy 3x per week, but this is as far as we can take him. Please help him, you won't regret it. Thank you. (Less)

Hello, Lovey Howell is from Heaven. I am a temperament tester and evaluator and when I tested Lovey I gave her top scores in all areas. Lovey is with a rescue but has been living with us since day one. Lovey adores all my dogs and cats and they are mad about her. She has no idea that she is not a lap dog. Lovey has come so far, from the girl who did not know what treats are to the girl who is the first one at the cookie jar when I remove the top. She needs someone who is home somewhat and at least one dog, or two, or three to play with. She would love a great outdoor area and lots of toys and antlers. The more the merrier. Lovey adores ... (Read More)kids and loves to hang out. When I first took her in she was hairless and pretty beat up. Her skin is great now and she just has to watch her diet because of allergies. Chicken is her favorite as well as cheese. When she is really happy she will bugle. It's hilarious. We love and adore her and have really fought given her up but she needs her own family, and room to run. Her original name was Miss Angie, from the shelter and she does have her own Facebook page but we started calling her Lovey and she was so happy every time she heard it, that was it. A girl not to be missed. Southern California home only. (Less)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

After some time with Harley in foster he has made it abundantly clear that he is a gentleman, and as such, will henceforth be known as SIR Harley. HOW WE KNOW SIR HARLEY IS A GENTLEMAN: Sir Harley has manners. He acknowledged his fate when we closed the bathroom door behind him and he accepted ... (Read More)it with grace. Sir Harley does not complain. He never told us about his knees. Only X-rays informed us of the pain he felt. Sir Harley has since received multiple corrective surgeries, compliments of Shadow's Fund, and has remained a ray of smiley sunshine throughout rehabilitation and crate rest. Sir Harley is the strong silent type. Yesterday morning at roughly 6am, Sir Harley's steel bladder needed a release. Sir Harley knows you will calm down if you (Less)

My name is Lindy. Some people call me Belinda the beauty. I was rescued from the Riverside shelter not too long ago. I was sent there after being found wandering the streets.     Meet SHERMAN | FOSTER TO ADOPT | EMAIL: ADOPTIONS@WAGGINGDOG.ORG | SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ONLY | Oh Shermie... this gentle 95 lb. giant has been part of the WDR family since January 2013. We plucked him from a municipal LA shelter and adopted him to a family that spring. We thought we made a good choice for our boy, but alas he was returned to us in August 2014. His family wasn't able to help him with his separation anxiety; in fact, they didn't try even though they promised to give him their all. Instead they gave him all of their food and treats but no leadership, exercise or mental stimulation to go with it. He came back to his ... (Read More)rescue at 112 lbs., depressed, obese, and having forgotten how to DOG. We were crushed. With the help of a team of dedicated volunteers who spent time with Sherman at his boarding kennel, the next several months brought Sherman back to himself and reminded him about things that balanced dogs like to do (such as using their noses and brains, enjoying the company of other life forms, enjoying the walk). Unfortunately Sherm's distress over being alone in a home environment kept him out of a family and home life. Until Allison. Lucky Sherman was able to move to our most skilled foster care provider's home where he's worked on crate skills, inside manners, and has a bevy of doggie friends! We're SO proud of him and thrilled that this beautiful, sweet dog finally gets to enjoy some of the luxuries of a pampered house pet. And we're so grateful to his amazing foster mom Allison, with Peticularly Perfect Pet Care, for giving him this opportunity and teaching him these valuable lessons. Sherm's been working hard on his distress level when people are gone and has learned to respect the boundaries that have been established. Even though he's a big mushy love, he's still got a stubborn streak as wide as his forehead ;) and like most blockheads, he'll test limits every now and again. The Sherminator is ready leave his foster momma's care, and we hope he can find a FOREVER family who can take over where she leaves off. She'll ensure his future family has all of the info they need to succeed, and WDR will do everything possible to make his next move a forever success. We're looking for DOG SAVVY, large breed experienced folks in Southern CA with another well matched mellow companion dog to keep the boy company. A clear understanding of the importance of leadership in the human-dog relationship is a must. Homeowners preferred in a single family residence with secure backyard. Renters will need renter's insurance and landlord approval. Sherm prefers a feline free environment. The big love is bomb proof with humans of any size, the most loving and gentle giant around. He'd be super excited to have a large family of his own very special people. If you're interested in being the forever family that our Shermie has been waiting forever to meet, please inquire. --- TO VIEW ADDITIONAL PUPDATES AND PHOTOS OF SHERMAN, PLEASE VISIT HIM ON FACEBOOK AT: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.546234702067702.125556.294289027262272&type=3 ---) ------) TO VIEW SHERMAN IN ACTION, PLEASE VISIT HIS YOUTUBE VIDEO PLAYLIST AT: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKp8buw7HyCallz74y3QUxY_82hk2n5Ev ------) UPDATE 11/17/17: Sherman has an adoption pending and is now in a Foster-To-Adopt (FTA) period with a potential adopter. During this period, the adopter and dog have a chance to try each other out and make sure this is a perfect match. If things don't work out, the dog will return to the rescue and be able to meet with other adopters. Otherwise, the adopter can finalize the adoption at the end of the FTA period or any time during, at which time our dog listing will be removed. Mastiff Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

(Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Mastiff in California
Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
