Rescue Me ID: 18-06-22-00313Odessa (female)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Oh my, Odessa! This gorgeous girl is in search of the perfect family to call her own. Here are 10 things that Ms. O wants her new home to know about her: 1. My life before rescue was THE PITS! My old owners made me live outside and almost never fed me. I never went to the veterinarian, even though they made me have lots of puppies. One day, a neighbor called the dog police and thankfully they came and picked me up. I was at the shelter for a little while before a nice lady brought me to The Bullpen. 2. I am about five years old. Because I am so beautiful and unusual looking, my mom got me a DNA test and we learned that I am half ... (Read More)Cane Corso and half Rhodesian Ridgeback. 3. I was very VERY skinny when I came to rescue. I was so weak that I could barely walk and I spent a lot of time sleeping and resting in my crate. Since my foster mom put me on a 'cruise diet' (I got to eat all kinds of delicious food, whenever I wanted), I've gained 30lbs and am feeling so much better! 4. When I was still at the shelter, the staff tested me with some dogs, and I did great. However, because of my condition, I haven't been able to interact much with the big dogs here at The Bullpen. I think I would like to live in a home with an easy-going big male dog, but I wouldn't mind being an only pet either. 5. I used to pretend that I was afraid of cats. Now that I'm feeling better, I like to chase them every chance I get. I'm definitely not fast enough to catch one, but it doesn't stop me from trying, so I think that my best home would be feline-free. 5. I am very sweet and affectionate and I love to be around humans. I am an extremely mellow girl and would happily sit quietly with you while you make dinner or watch TV and gaze adoringly in your direction with my big brown eyes. 6. Here are some of the things that I love the most: hot dogs, going on slow walks, being loved on by humans, and snoozing. 7. I really enjoy the quiet, peaceful environment here at the sanctuary, and would be very happy to find a home that wasn't too loud or busy. I think I could live in a home with children over 10, as long as they pet me gently and let me snuggle them, and weren't too loud or rambunctious. 8. I am housebroken and crate trained, and very well behaved in the house. My foster mom lets me sleep in her room sometimes, and I always go straight to the dog bed and settle in until the morning. 9. I am current on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. 10. I have started heartworm treatment, and will come with all the medicine needed to complete it at my new home. Rescue Me ID: 18-06-22-00310Sassy (female)

Mastiff    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Male Dogs Only, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Sweet, silly Sassafras! This lovely Cane Corso girl knows her forever family is out there somewhere. and Miss Sassy wants her new people to know these 10 things about her: 1. I was treated terribly before I came to rescue. The people at my old home would lock me in the house for weeks with just a pile of food, or tie me to the front porch for days, while they went off and did other things. I was always hungry and always hurting. I'm very lucky that my awful owners had responsible neighbors who didn't stop calling the dog police until they came to get me. 2. When I got to the shelter, I was very scared and I got very sick. I acted ... (Read More)like a complete jerk to almost everyone, but the Bullpen saw right through my act and asked me to come to the sanctuary. 3. I am learning every day that people are good and that I can trust them. My foster mom says I am making wonderful progress and I should be proud of myself, even if I am still a total grump when I meet new people. 4. When I see people that I know, I turn into a super wiggle-butt snuggle monster. I can't help myself. I just want to be around them and play with toys with them and be petted. I'm definitely one of the most affectionate dogs at the sanctuary. 5. When I meet other dogs through the fence, I wag my tail at them, and I think I could happily live with an easy-going, big male dog if we were properly introduced. Because I was so sick at the shelter, I wasn't allowed to meet any other dogs, so I'm not sure how I feel about little and medium sized pups. 6. My kennel at the shelter was close to the pen where they keep goats and chickens, and I was generally oblivious. When I see birds and squirrels and the occasional cat here at the sanctuary, I'm interested for a few seconds, but then I forget about them. 7. My ideal home would be with an adults-only family that is willing to work with me on building confidence, and that doesn't have many visitors to the house. New people are scary to me, and when I'm afraid, I am not my best self. 8. I am really good on a leash, and will go into a crate, even if I don't like it. I know how to use a dog door and will sit when you tell me. I do, however, have a bad habit of jumping up to get your attention, and I need my forever family to keep working with me to curb the behavior. 9. My back end is a little funny. There, I said it. It's really only noticeable when I sit down, but it's hard to miss. The veterinarian took x-rays of my legs and pelvis but couldn't find anything that would really explain it. I have no trouble getting around, but the Bullpen thought it was best to start me on a daily anti-inflammatory, which I take without complaint. 10. I am current on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. I've started heartworm treatment, and will come with all the medicine needed to complete it at my new home. Mastiff    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Butch is one of our best boys, and he's ready to give all his love and affection to a forever family. Here are 10 things that Mr. B wants his new home to know about him: 1. I am a Cane Corso and I am about 3 years old. 2. I had a really bad life before I found rescue. When I arrived at the sanctuary, I was emaciated, my eyes were a mess, and I only had half of my hair. Thankfully all of that is behind me: after a couple months of rehab, I'm a whole new dog! I've gained 30lbs, my eyes look great, and my coat is full and shiny! 3. I was introduced to some larger dogs at the shelter, and it went just fine. Once I was healthy enough, I ... (Read More)met some of the other Bullpen residents, and I didn't mind them at all. Based on these interactions, I think I could happily live in a home with a large, laid-back female dog. 4. I haven't had much experience with smaller dogs or cats, but I think I might be able to live with them if we had a slow and proper introduction. 5. Like most Cane Corsos, I can be wary of strangers and protective. When it comes to the people I know, however, I am a very sweet, gentle and happy boy. 6. I haven't been around children since I've been in rescue, but I think it would be okay if my new home had kids, as long as they aren't very young or rambunctious. 7. I enjoy spending time with people, going for walks, and, of course, eating! 8. I am housebroken and can use a dog door. I am also great on a leash and know basic obedience. 9. I am current on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. 10. I have started heartworm treatment, and will come with all the medicine needed to complete it at my new home. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ready to give Butch the forever home of his dreams? Mastiff    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Billy the Kid has rolled into town and he is looking to steal your heart! Here are 10 things that Billy wants his forever family to know about him. 1. I am a Presa Canario, and I am almost 1 year old. 2. I was really skinny before I came to rescue. Even though I am getting bigger and healthier every day, I will probably always be on the smaller side for my breed, and may never weigh more than 85lbs. 3. I have been around dogs that are medium-sized and larger, and I like them a lot. I haven't had much experience with dogs under 25lbs, but with a proper introduction, I may be fine living in a home with them. 4. I really like to ... (Read More)play, so I am hoping to find a home that has dogs that will want to interact with me and that won't be annoyed by my puppy energy. 5. I haven't had many opportunities to interact with cats, but I think it's possible that I could learn to cohabitate peacefully with some feline friends. 6. I am generally a very happy and social boy, and I have yet to meet a person I don't like. I have a tendency to show my affections by showering new friends with puppy kisses! 7. I wouldn't mind living in a home with children, as long as they weren't very young (5+). 8. I enjoy playing with toys, hanging out with other dogs, and getting snuggles and attention from my people. 9. I am housebroken and can use a dog door. I am also pretty good on a leash! While I am in rescue, I am going to learn basic obedience and will also get some crate training. 10. I am current on vaccinations, HW-, microchipped, and neutered. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ready to give Billy the forever home of his dreams? Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Daisy is a darling 18 month old Presa Canario that is ready to find her forever family. Here are 10 things that dearest Daisy wants her new home to know about her: 1. I was surrendered to the shelter because my owners were having a baby and felt they couldn't give me enough time and attention. 2. I am a fan of all dogs, no matter what size they are. That said, I really love to play with big dogs, so my perfect place would have some larger, playful canine friends that I could interact with. 3. I don't care very much about cats, so a feline-friendly home would be a good fit for me. 4. I can be shy and scared when I meet new people. ... My ideal home would be with a family that is willing to work with me on building confidence, and that doesn't have many visitors to the house. 5. Even though I am nervous during initial introductions, once I feel comfortable with you, I'm very affectionate and eager to please. 6. I would do be best in an environment that is calm and quiet, but I wouldn't mind living in a home with children, as long as they weren't very young or rambunctious. 7. I enjoy playing outside, napping, and snuggling. 8. My previous family did an excellent job of teaching me doggy manners, and my foster mom says I'm one of the best behaved dogs she's ever met. 9. I am housebroken and can use a dog door. I will go into my crate without any issues, and I don't complain at all once I'm in there. And if that wasn't enough, I am also spectacular on a leash and I know basic obedience! 10.     My, my'|Miss Mimi! This Cane Corso girl is about 2.5 years old, and sweet as sugar. Here are 10 things Mimi wants her new home to know about her: 1. I was abandoned in a garage with my brother, TomTom, and then we went to the shelter after someone found us. When TomTom and I came to the Bullpen, we were both very skinny, but I was nearly skeletal. Because I was hungry for so long, I can be grumpy around other dogs when I'm eating, but it's getting better every day. 2. I would like to live in a home with another large male dog. If TomTom and I could find a home together, that would be great, but we can also go to separate families. ... (Read More)3. I don't have much experience around small and medium sized dogs, but I could try to live with them if my forever family agreed to introduce us slowly. 4. I haven't spent much time in the company of cats, so I'm not sure how I feel about cohabitating with one. 5. I will bark when I meet strangers, but I'm wagging my tail the whole time. In general, I am very happy to be around people of all sizes and sexes. 6. I think I would like to live in a home with children, as long as they weren't very young or rambunctious. 7. I enjoy playing with my brother, eating, and snuggling. I'm very affectionate and just want to give all my love and attention to a family. 8. Sometimes I like to dig in the yard, but I always stop when my foster mom tells me to knock it off. 9. I am housebroken, and can use a dog door. I know how to sit and am perfecting my leash skills. 10. I am current on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed.     TomTom is a terrific 2.5 year old Cane Corso boy that's ready for his forever family to find him. Here are 11 things Tom wants his new home to know: 1. I was abandoned in a garage with my sister, Mimi, and then we went to the shelter after someone found us. I haven't spent much time in the company of cats, so I'm not sure how I feel about co-habitating with one. 8. I enjoy playing with my sister, eating, and snuggling. Sometimes I get carried away when I'm playing and I jump on my sister's head! She's used to it, but if I go to a family with another dog, they have to be pretty patient or like to play rough too! 9. I really like to dig in the yard, but I usually stop when my foster mom tells me to. Besides, the only reason I'm digging is because I want to go find her so we can hang out. 10. I am housebroken, and can use a dog door. I know how to sit and am working on my leash skills. 11. I am current on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered.     Now introducing PonyBoy, a stunning 16 month old Cane Corso pup that's the paragon of perfection! Here are 10 things Pony wants his future family to know about him: 1. Four months ago, I was hit by a car. The impact broke my leg pretty badly. Luckily the Bullpen found me at the shelter and took me to the veterinarian, who did lots of surgery to make me better. I have regained full mobility, but I will probably need to be on anti-inflammatory medication for the rest of my life. 2. Rescue Me ID: 18-01-29-00148Phoebe (female)

Mastiff    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

ABOUT ME: Phoebe is a 5.5 year old Cane Corso cutie! Before she came to rescue, Phoebe's life wasn't the greatest. She had to live outside and was used as a breeding machine. All that changed, however, the day she joined the Bullpen team, and now she's ready to give her love to a family of her own! WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: Although Miss Phoebe does not care for little dogs, she is living in a home with a male mastiff, and they get along famously. The shelter told us that she wasn't very interested in cats while she was there, so we think she may be okay in a home with felines after a proper introduction. We haven't had the opportunity to ... (Read More)observe Phoebe interact with kids, but given how much she loves to be around people, we think she would be fine in a home with children over 10. Phoebe is affectionate and easy-going, and loves everyone she meets. She also enjoys playing fetch, snoozing, taking long walks, and going on car rides. THE DETAILS: Phoebe is housebroken, knows basic obedience and is working on her leash skills. She will go into her crate when asked, which isn't often, because her foster mom says that she's an angel when left unsupervised. Phoebe is vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She has started treatment for heartworms, which she will need to finish with her forever home. Ready to give Phoebe the forever home of her dreams? Fill out our Adoption Application, located at bullpenrescue.org under the 'work with us' tab. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a 'perfect placement' so we know that they will not be failed again. (Less)

Mastiff    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

ABOUT ME: Winston is a handsome 3 year old Cane Corso guy who is ready for a home of his own. Although Mr. W looks intimidating, he's a real softie once you get to know him! This adorable kid loves to play outside with his squeaky toys as much as he likes lounging on the floor near his people. WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: Winston can be shy and nervous around new people, and will need an experienced home to help him build confidence. He used to live in a home with children, as well as small and medium sized dogs, so we believe that a home with these kinds of inhabitants would suit him just fine. However, Winston can be selective about his ... (Read More)feelings for other big dogs, and we aren't sure how he would do in a home with a cat. THE DETAILS: Winston is housebroken, crate-trained, knows how to use a dog door and basic obedience, and has almost perfected walking on a leash!     ABOUT ME: Sophie is a wonderful senior Boerboel lady that would love to find a family to spend her senior years with. Ms. Soph is very laid-back and easy, and just wants to relax and hang out close to her people WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: Sophie can be shy with new people, but once she feels comfortable, she's happy to hang out with the family. Mastiff    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind, Heartworm Positive

ABOUT ME: We double dog dare you not to fall in love with Mr. Mooshoo! He's just about the happiest, sweetest, goofiest guy in town, despite everything he's been through. Mr. Moo was found as a stray in Atlanta, and it was obvious that he had been neglected for a very long time. Moo was emaciated, his skin was a mess, and he appeared to be totally blind. We've made great progress with the first two issues, but there is nothing we can do about his vision, except love him just the way he is! WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: Mooshoo is wonderful with everyone he meets, and doesn't seem to care about other animals one bit. He loves to be with his people ... (Read More)and enjoys a good roll in the grass on a warm day! Moo gets around fairly well despite only being able to see light and shadow, and we've been working with him on voice tracking. He has figured out how to use a dog door and can even manage a few steps if taken slowly. Mr. Moo is an older boy that prefers a low-key life, and will need a family that is willing to work with him to navigate a home environment. THE DETAILS: Mooshoo is housetrained, but sometimes has a hard time holding it for longer periods due to his age. He knows basic obedience, and is pretty great on a leash to boot! Mooshoo is fully vaccinated and micro-chipped, and will be neutered and treated for heartworms as soon as he is healthy enough.     ABOUT ME: Arthur is a certified dream boat! This 4 year old Cane Corso is not only a stunner, he's also a total snuggle bug who is very well mannered and laid-back. WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: We're still getting to know Arthur, but we think he would do well in a home with older children. Like most Cane Corsos, Arthur is very wary of strangers, and needs to be introduced to new people and visitors slowly.     ABOUT ME: Dante is a devilishly handsome 18 month old Cane Corso who is just about perfect. Not only is Dante gorgeous, he's smart as a whip and is very sweet and affectionate. When he's not napping in the sun, this athletic pup loves to play with his squeaky toys and go for long walks. WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: Dante is fairly new to The Bullpen so we're still figuring out his exact feelings about other dogs, but he has met lots of our other residents through the fence and only seems interested in finding a new play buddy. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-21-00326Duffy (female)

Mastiff    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Male Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

ABOUT ME: Duffy is a charming Presa Canario that is 3 years old with big beautiful brown eyes. Her eyes aren't the only thing that are big: her previous owners showed their love with food, so by the time she got to The Bullpen, she was a very plump lady. Duffy is currently on a diet and will need to continue this with her forever home until she reaches a healthy weight. Ms. Duffy absolutely loves the water, and frequently went out to the lake for swimming and boat rides with her old family. She's also a huge fan of hanging out with her people and sunbathing. WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: When she first meets new people, she can be shy and ... (Read More)anxious. Duffy warms up fairly quickly, and once she does, she is a very sweet and loving lady. She does well with children as long as there is a slow and proper introduction. Duffy would do best in a home where she could be the only pet, but we think she could live with a family with a submissive male dog if they were properly introduced. She seems interested in the barn cats at The Bullpen, so we are unsure of how she feels about living in a home with one. THE DETAILS: Duffy is heartworm negative, spayed, up to date on vaccines, and micro-chipped. She needs a little bit of work on leash skills, but she is housebroken, crate trained, and is great with basic obedience.     MAZUKY WILL BE ADOPTED TO AN EXPERIENCED CANE CORSO / GUARDIAN BREED HOME ONLY ABOUT ME: Mazuky is a stunning 5 year old Cane Corso. He was picked up as a stray and waited four long months for his owner to come back for him. When his owner never showed, we were lucky enough to be able to welcome him to the Bullpen family. He is an energetic boy that would enjoy a fairly active family that will take him on neighborhood walks or play ball in the backyard every night before snuggling on the couch. WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: Like most Cane Corsos, Mazuky is wary of strangers, and needs to be introduced to new people and visitors slowly. Once he ... (Read More)feels comfortable, though, Mazuky absolutely loves people and attention. He is very fond of women and adjusts well to men after a slower introduction. Although Mazuky loves to be active, he can get overwhelmed by noisy and high-stimulus environments and would prefer a more laid-back and quiet household. An adults-only home would be ideal, but a family with older children may also be a good fit. Mr. M gets along great with large dogs but has not been tested with smaller dogs. Mazuky will chase a cat, so he prefers a feline-free family. Because he is highly intelligent, Mazuky enjoys exploring new things and is always looking for the next great adventure. He's been known to seize any opportunity he can to get out into the world and investigate the surroundings, which occasionally means jumping a fence or sneaking through a door left ajar. Consequently, applicants must have a fence that is higher than 6', or be willing to keep him on a leash whenever he leaves the house.
