Chase is a sweet boy, we were told that he is a Shepard/ mastiff mix?? Diffidently see the Shepard...not so much mastiff??BUT hes an adorable mutt:)Why on earth has this sweet boy been with us for sooo long!! Chace is really a great dog someone will be so luckey to have him in their family!! We are looking for a family with a large yard, and a good amount of time for him, Chase would NOT make a good farm dog, he wants to be close to his family at all times. He seems to enjoy chasing cats, not sure if he would play nice if he actually caught one. Gets along with most dogs and great with older children...small moving humans (toddlers) seem to freak him out. If you feel that you would have a great home for chase please contact us for an adoption application (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-26-00326Vito (male)
Vito is a Cane Corso who was born on 3/28/16. He came to us because he was becoming aggressive with a 11 year old boy in the home. We have sent him out with a trainer for some behavioral modification. However, even with that we won't adopt him to a home with children - it just isn't worth the risk. He appears to do much better with men than with women. He does NOT warm up quickly. If you are interested in him you should figure on multiple visits of a couple of hours each. We are unsure exactly when he will be back from his rehab program - we will accept applications on him and notify anyone approved when he returns. He will be neutered, current on his shots, heartworm checked and micro-chipped before going to a new home. We will be reviewing new homes for him VERY carefully given his size and what appears to be his unpredictable personality. He will require some type of containment and won't go to a home where he can just run free. He is reported as housebroken, walks well on a leash and loves car rides. Our adoption application is on our website at www.patriotsforpets.com if you think you might be the right home for this boy once he comes back from rehab. He looks like Scooby Doo in his first picture - caught him mid head shake. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-08-00293Bernie (male)
Bernie is a good boy when strangers are not around. Unfortunately there's a lot of neighbor kids and adults around that he is not familiar with and does not want to become familiar with. We do not want to let him go to someone that cannot handle a large breed with sometimes aggressive behavior with strangers. He is a lap dog with love for his family.

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-29-00262Victoria (female)
Victoria wins the prize for our heaviest dog yet! 176 pounds of English Mastiff. Victoria is 6 years old. She is brindle colored. Victoria does not do well in the extreme heat and humidity. She is kennel trained and does not mess in her kennel. Victoria is great with people and loves being with you. She enjoys treats and ear scratches especially. She goes for walks but slowly and prefers short walks Victoria prefers to have a new home without little dogs. She just can't seem to relate to them. Victoria's adoption fee is $180.00. If you are interested in adopting Victoria, please complete the adoption application at http://www.secondchancedogrescueofiowa.com/adoption.html Thanks! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Mastiff in Iowa
Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
