Mastiff    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

From Libby's previous family: Libby just turned 7 back in October. Our family has been with her since mid August. She has had 2 other families before us. She is house trained and knows the basic commands (come, sit, shake and no). She enjoys running and exploring outside. She is very active for her age. She loves being around her 'people' and will be a loyal friend. She is a sweet girl and loves to have her butt scratched!!! :) I honestly don't know how she is on a leash because we live in the country and she is allowed to roam around but always stays close to the house. Again, she is unpredictable around dogs (animals). She is ... (Read More)an alpha dog and does become aggressive around food and toys. Also, she does become aggressive with dogs at other times but we don't know what triggers her. She would be best in a home with no other pets. We have two elementary age children and she has never been aggressive towards them and she seems to tolerate their 'crazy'. Libby is a 7 year old english mastiff. Her adoption fee is $175, Libby can be adopted at Thank you! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Mastiff in Iowa
Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
