|Rescue Me ID: 14-12-08-00216Cesar (male)|
Cesar was brought to us by this page back in July. We got him from an elderly couple. He is completely untrained. Absolutely no manners. He needs someone with large breed experience. He lives at home with myself, my 9 year old daughter, 5 year old low end autistic son, our 2 1/2 year old Chihuahua and my ex-husband who is here frequently. We have had cats up until about 2 months ago and he was very well behaved with them. He has never been around other large breed dogs. UTD on all vet care. He needs someone who has more time and energy to work with him and train him. He is big, goofy, a bit stupid, has poor manners, but is a sweet lovable lapdog. He is spoiled and has the run of the house. We are sad to see him go, but as an active family, we just don't have the time he needs. He is very loved, but he needs so much more than I really have. Please remember these dogs are BIG! He stands over 6 foot on his hind legs and weighs over 140 lbs. They may be lazy as they get older, but when he wants to play he needs a lot of room! Serious Inquiries Only. I will be doing a vet check and ask for 2 references. He is not a 'throw away'. He is a 'I deserve more'. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 14-11-02-00283Gracie (female)|
Gracie is a 4 year old Mastiff/Boxer mix. Mostly Mastiff. Gracie is a love bug. She loves her humans big and small. Gracie is a goofy girl who loves chasing ball, playing tug and hanging out on the couch and bed! Gracie has a heart of gold, and has a goofy nature, but cannot live with other dogs. Gracie's reactivity/aggression towards dogs has increased over the years despite her owner's efforts. Gracie currently lives with another dog, however, Gracie does not want to share her space with her brother. Her brother is now afraid of being around her and has had to be temporarily relocated. Gracie needs a new home immediately as her present living situation does not have the availability to keep the dogs separate. Her options are very limited at this time. If she is surrendered to the shelter she will likely be PTS, and she doesn't kennel well so she would have a difficult time adjusting to shelter life should they keep her around for a little while. Gracie is a big girl and will need a dog owner willing to manage her and keep her safe. She is a great dog that does very well in the house, but needs regular exercise and playtime. Do you know a Mastiff lover looking for a loyal companion? If so, Gracie is the perfect dog! (Less)

Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Maine if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
