Animal ID: 17-11-10-00180Big Poppa (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

'I simply go by Poppa. I'm a five year old male Mastiff/Pit mix. I was adopted by my current Mom and Dad April 2017. While they love me very much, I prefer to be the only furbaby and don't always get along with cats. They want me to have the best and happiest life ever! And want me to be placed in a home I can spend the rest of my life being spoiled in. Sadly, before they found me I had been neglected, abused, and jumped around from owner to shelter. If you're excited about becoming my new family, please contact my current Mom.' *Five year old Mastiff/Pit Mix Breed *Neutered *Up-to-date on Shots/Vaccinations *Potty Trained *Crate Trained ... (Read More)*Not completely leash trained, but we have been working with him, and he's almost got it. *Has had no prior training of any kind, he has been doing well with basic commands, but needs continued training. *Loves running the yard, and plays with Rope and Bone style toys. Poppa will play fetch in a manner of speaking - he will chase the toy, but then wants you to chase him to get it back. * Poppa is a 70 pound lap dog! Will lay at your feet while you cook, sit on your lap while you binge watch Netflix, lay at the edge of the tub while you shower. *Hands down the best hugger!! We are truly heartbroken in having to rehome Poppa. He is a much loved member of our family. While he has become best friends with our Pit/Boxer mix, he demands attention, and is not taking so well to our newest addition to the family. We do not recommend he go to a home with multiple dogs, one companion of similar size will be perfect for him. We do not recommend he go to a home with Cats. While we have not noticed a lot of aggression towards our family cats, we have seen signs towards strays and a family cats that have stayed in our home. We are unsure how Poppa will interact with young kids and infants. He has had limited exposure to kids (4-10) and seemed to be okay, but we are positive he is fine with adults. Poppa has so much love to offer, and we want him to be placed in a good home where he will be loved and spoiled like we have done for him. We ask only applicants who are willing to share a spot on the couch or a side of the bed apply. We prefer applicants apply through his Adopt a Pet profile at https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/19892695-columbus-ohio-mastiff-mix If you have questions or concerns, you can contact me via email. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-22-00097Fang (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Hello my name is Fang. I am a year old and I'm crate trained. I am part Rot and part Mastiff. My mommy and daddy rescued me as a puppy and did everything they could for me. I came from an abused home where I didn't know how to trust. My old owners let me eat socks and let their kid beat on me and hurt me. Mommy knew she had her hands full when they got me. They began to socialize me and take me everywhere with them. After a few months, I became the life of the party. I began to trust humans and realize they aren't bad people. When they took me to get neutered, the vet told my aunt that I was an amazing boy and loved on everyone. Mommy also ... (Read More)taught me how to smile. People sometimes get scared when they see me because it looks like I'm growling, but I promise I'm not. I know simple dog commands and think I'm a lap dog. Unfortunately my sister Daisy and I don't really get along too well. I would prefer a home with no other pets but me or a cat brother/sister, but I like to watch caged animals and baby sit them. Because I was abused, it takes me a little while to warm up to you. I might bark, but I don't mean anything by it. I tend to hide behind my mommy's legs when I meet new people. But don't worry, after about 15-20 minutes, I come right up to you and sit on your lap. I'm a good boy, I don't run when you take me out and I always come to my name!! My mommy and daddy want to see me go to a good new home where they know I'm safe!! My mommy would want to meet the new family and ensure they know enough to take me. They would have a rehoming fee for me because they don't feel right giving me away because they want to know someone is serious about taking me. I promise I would make a great new member to your family!!!! Anyone is welcome to share my story so I can find a new family %9D%A4%9D%A4 (Less)

Animal ID: 403309Chuckles (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chuckles - AVAIL! :) M, 8 y/o, 78 lbs Mastiff / Shepherd mix Neutered Chuckles respects strong but fair leadership so he'd be best with either a man or a woman who can give him that leadership. In return he is very loyal, protective, and soft-hearted to those he trusts, all about belly rubs, back scratches, hugs, and kisses! Chuckles knows the commands: sit, lay down, stay, come, and heel. He's a thick, goofy boy, short & stout and has a lot of pep and vitality. He loves to wander the backyard, go on daily mile-long walks, and even keeps up on jogs! But he seeks indoor companionship the most. He is crate trained and can be ... (Read More)crated when you're not home or overnight. He would be best in a one-on-one relationship but can be co-located with other dogs as well with proper supervision. Not recommended for homes with cats/small animals. SPECIAL OFFER: Thank you to AlphA and Omega Dog Training who has graciously provided in-home obedience training for Chuckles! They will provide 1 hour of training to whomever adopts Chuckles to show you how to lead with the verbal and visual commands that Chuckles has learned to follow. HISTORY: Chuckles ended up at the kill-shelter after a life of neglect. He was abused with collars so embedded in his neck that they had to be removed and treated by a vet. We showed him humans can be kind and gentle. When we rescued Chuckles he was drastically underweight, heartworm positive, had dental issues, and was certain to be destroyed. We had him examined and treated by our hospital veterinarians and our excellent fosters have been providing great care, nutrition, and interaction daily. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-07-00111Oso (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Our amazing Oso! He is an 18 month old mastiff mix. He can be a bit unsure when first meeting someone new but then bonds quickly. He LOVES to play! Especially ball and makes the funniest noises when he sees you! We have not yet dog tested but he seems non reactive. He came to us from a home with cats and was interested when he met our tester cat but may be ok. He seems to like kids but we prefer to place him in a home with teens and older due to his size. For an application email rotndogz1@yahoo.com and go to our Facebook page at R.E.A.L. Rottweiler Rescue to see more pics and videos.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Mastiff in Ohio
Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
