Rescue Me ID: 16-07-18-00167Grunt (male)
Grunt is a very nice and sweet 9 month old pup that gives plenty of kisses and has an equal amount of energy and laziness. He is the only one in the litter that has longer hair, which runs in waves down his back. He has had all of his shots, he is potty trained, unfixed, very friendly, and comes with a ton of toys that he enjoys chewing on and playing with. He is good with children and always plays well with them, including my younger brother who is autistic. He has also grown up around cats and other dogs. The only problem I've ever had with him is that he wants to be a puppy and play with cats, but the cats don't always enjoy getting slobbered on. He has never shown any aggression towards another human being or animal, aside from being vocal and barking (he will bark at new comers but then become their best friend). I don't expect him to get much bigger than his current height because none of his siblings did. But he has gained some muscle and his head and feet are still large which leads me to believe he's still got a lot more to grow. He likes cuddling in bed on some days, on others he will sleep on the floor. The only reason I can't keep him is because I work 8-10 hour shifts every night and I live alone. He needs someone who can give him the proper attention and love that a puppy needs and deserves. If you're interested, please let me know. He comes with a collar but no tags (you can and should get those in January). But I will include a bounty of toys and a Ziploc of his food with the name so that you can continue to keep him on the same diet, if you choose. Thank you for checking Grunt out, he looks forward to meeting you. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-15-00185Mia (female)
Mia is a very good dog. She loves to play. She has two best friends at home, one a black lab and the other a Boston terrier French bulldog mix. She has always been great with my dogs until recently. With my work schedule, the two bigger dogs are gated into the kitchen and are getting on each others nerves. Unfortunately, I don't have time for the two bigger dogs. I got them from my mom when she couldn't take them to her new house. I work far too much to take care of them by myself. Mia is great with kids. I have a 2 year old and Mia just loves her to bits. It breaks my heart to have to give her up but I just can't take care of them like I should. Mia is timid around new people, especially men. She was rescued from an abusive family at 7 months old and has a hard time trusting. She needs someone with lots of time, love, and patience. Thank you for viewing Mia. I would love to see her go to a great home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-13-00064Lucie (female)
Lucie is a 5 y.o. spayed female Mastiff. We have been fostering her with her housemate, Ladybug, since February. Lucie is a good girl, but does like to bark - she's great at warning you of noises, things going on when she's outside, etc. She's sweet and silly and a fun girl. Lucie does limp, most likely from a past torn cruciate ligament in her rear leg. My vet believes it has either healed or scarred over. She needs to be on glucosamine/chondroitin supplements to help prevent arthritis. No other health issues. Ideally, we'd like Lucie adopted with Ladybug, but it's not necessary.

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-13-00058Ladybug (female)
Lady is a 7 y.o. spayed female Mastiff we have been fostering since February (along with her housemate, Lucie). Lady is wonderful with all people and children - loves to snuggle and came from a home with a toddler. Ladybug needs to be an only dog, or adopted with Lucie. Unfortunately, she is not good with dogs other than Lucie. She is housebroken, crate trained (although will whine if crated for long periods - she is great loose in the house) and very obedient. She has a health condition called Diabetes Insipidus which requires she have a small injection twice a day. Cost of her medication is appx. $70/month. Diabetes Insipidus does not require she have daily blood checks or anything like that. This disease makes her drink water in huge amounts - so much that she'd rather drink water than eat. The injections are sub-q (just under the skin) and she knows to stand for them before her morning and evening meal. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-08-00247Kimba (female)
Kimba has lived most of her life in a 12 by 10 outside cage. She lived part time indoors when younger. She has been surrendered to me by her owner. I am an independent rescue. She was never abused just neglected from companionship, exercise and sometimes food. She is being treated now for heartworm, otherwise healthy. She's gentle, loving and loyal but will need socialization training with dogs and people. She would make a great companion buddy. A single person or couple with no kids might be her best situation, but with training she may be adaptable to a larger family. Adoption contract, training required, home visit required, willing to transport her long distance to the right home. Give this wonderful older dog a chance at life. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-29-00074Buddy & Mary Jane (male)
Buddy and Mary Jane are brother and sister, a bonded pair of German Shepherd mixes. Mary Jane is 95 lbs and a very happy girl but can come on strong for her size as she is rambunctious and playful. Buddy is is the gentle giant at a whopping 140lbs. But he is just that, very relaxed and laid back, will play occasionally but prefers to hang out. They do well with other dogs if they can handle their size and playfulness. A securely fenced yard would be best as they are strong dogs! Adoption Fee $300 for the pair, adoption application online at www.maggiesmissionrescue.org

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-05-00350Ollie (male)
Hello everyone! I'm Ollie and I am waiting to meet YOU! I'm about 6 years old, an easygoing mastiff mix who LOVES everyone, big and small. I'm not sure about cats, but I get along well with most dogs. I have a congenital leg defect which makes my back legs bend inwards, but I don't let that stop me AT ALL - even though I am a big boy I can move FAST when I want to. I ride great in the car and enjoy getting out and about, sniffing the grass and checking out my surroundings. But most of all I like to give kisses and get cuddles, the more the better. So, if you like big dogs with big hearts, maybe I could be the one for you. Watch me in action and find out more about me from one of my favorite shelter volunteers on Youtube! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-03-17-00042Skye (female)
Skye is an approx. 4 year old, spayed, female Neapolitan Mastiff. She is a people lover! She wants to meet everyone, including children. She clearly was not socialized with other dogs properly and has a difficult time getting along because she is socially awkward. Her manners with other dogs are somewhat rude at this point. However, she has been fostered with a variety of dogs and can get along with a large, tolerant dog and experienced handling. She also would be completely content as an only dog. She should not be allowed to play with small dogs or cats because it is to hard for her to resist the urge to chase and catch them when they move quickly. Miss Skye knows how to sit, down, stay and recall on command. She walks great on leash and does not require a lot of exercise. She rides nicely in the car. She is great for medicine, nail trims and baths. She likes to play with Kongs and Nylabones, but she especially likes to shred. Like most mastiffs, she does drool, especially after drinking, but she is very good about getting her face wiped off. She is house trained and crate trained. Please consider opening your home to this great girl. She has been waiting her whole life to be loved and has much to give in return! (Less)

Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
