Rescue Me ID: 15-10-03-00508Andre' (male)
Andre' is a 3.5 year old male English Mastiff. He is located in the Dayton, Ohio area. A very specific family is needed for Andre, a home visit will be required before placement to ensure a good fit. Andre will need a fenced yard. He does not do well with other dogs (dominance) He currently is in a home with teenage children and does very well, as he does not know his size we feel that small children would be an issue for him (unintentionally knocking a child over)

Rescue Me ID: 15-10-01-00230Marlo Jenkins (male)
Name: Marlo Jenkins Breed: Boxer/Mastiff (was the vet's guess) Birthday: December 30, 2013 Favorite things: Cuddles, playing with his brothers, eating (ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING) Bio: Marlo is a super friendly, hyper guy! He loves to play and loves to cuddle, he thinks he is a lap dog. He was one of a litter whose mama was rescued from a friend of mine. He is a very happy boy but does need someone who is stern and able to make him listen. He is potty trained for the most part but does have accidents at times. He needs a home with lots of love and attention, he thrives on it!

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-30-00241Winston (male)
Winston is a very sweet, gentle puppy who will make an adorable addition to your family. He is very gentle with our 10 month old daughter and any other kids he's been around (which is a lot). He loves to play with other dogs, large or small. He is mostly housebroken but sometimes pees when excited (we are told this will get better once he's neutered). He is amazing at fetching a ball and dropping it. He's a great walker when using a gentle lead but needs to work on walking on a regular leash. Our family just doesn't have the time to take care of a puppy and a baby right now. He deserves a family who will spend a lot of time with him.

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-22-00514Lucy (female)
Lucy is a sweet lovable girl but would benefit from some obedience training. She would do well in a home with more space. We would like her to be adopted quickly. She is a very good dog, but we lack the time or space she deserves. We would prefer someone living within a few hours to take her. She is 60lbs and is about one year old. She is spayed, current on vaccinations and has a microchip. Lucy would probably do best with a family that has older children.

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-17-00817DIamond (male)
Unfortunately, like too many dogs, Diamond's life has not been easy or pleasant. She has never known the comfort of a warm and loving home... or what it is like to be a part of a family that truly cares for her. This poor girl has not been able to catch a break in her few short years. Not only is Diamond a very strong heartworm positive; she also has a mass in her rectum that needs to be biopsied (cost is around $360) to rule out cancer. Fortunately, Diamond has her very own angel looking out for her. He has the backing of a few members of the rescue community that are willing to anything they can in order to give this wonderful girl a second-chance at life; one she truly deserves! Diamond is currently on medication to (hopefully) reduce the swelling in her rectum, however in order to move forward with her heartworm treatment, she will need a biopsy done first. DIAMOND IS ALSO IN URGENT NEED OF AN ADOPTER OR FOSTER HOME. ALL MEDICAL COSTS WILL BE COVERED AT NO EXPENSE TO THE SAVIOR THAT TAKES HER IN. While her rescuer absolutely adores her, unfortunately his wife does not feel the same way. Diamond is staying in his garage for the time being (she has a chair, bed, carpet, fan, food/water), and while she does have a yard to play in and gets plenty of attention and love, it is not where she should be while her medical needs are taken care of. Here is Diamond's story, as told by her rescuer and angel: Sometime in 2010-2011, Diamond was born in a turbulent setting on 146th Street in Cleveland, Ohio. It seems sad that you would say nothing out of the ordinary when pitbull pups were bred for the purpose of fighting and dying in a trade known to so many. Diamond's destiny was to be either a bait dog or more; depending on if she survived the baiting. She was trained to fight at an early age of about 2 years old. I remember going by where she lived and hearing her and her siblings on the second story balcony of a house. All of the pit bulls on the porch were fighting with each other or just being brutally abused by one an other because the environment they were being bred to be a part of. These dogs were being bred for one reason and that was for fighting each other. I met Diamond 4 years later when a very dear friend of mine with a drug problem was unable to take care of her; so I began to buy her food for 6 months. I was always afraid to go near her because she seemed so vicious. One day I went to my friends house and Diamond was just given enough slack in the chain that kept her bound to a backyard of dirt, she looked at me with her tail wagging and it was that moment I realized that I was looking at a broken animal that was a prisoner of her environment. She had no hope on her eyes. I believe she just wanted some love at that moment. I walked to the corner of that back of the house where she was tied up and I held her and she seemed to be in a sad state of mind and she was in despair. In the preceding weeks the owner that had neglected her needs for 4 years lost his home and Diamond was sleeping in a car for 2 days when I brought her to my home. She has been with me ever since. I don't know if I saved her or if she saved me. She was diagnosed with heartworm as a result of being tied up in the back of that house for days, weeks, months, and years! I can't imagine the emotional pain and suffering she has endured. Thanks to a few ladies in the rescue business, she is getting medical treatment to get well. She is only 4 years old and has already had 5 litters of pups that have been sold in the dog fighting business (though the last litter all died). Diamond is finally free of the chains that bound her to a tree for years! She is a sweet and loving girl that has survived the terrible life that a lot of dogs don't have the opportunity to be free from. Today she is just enjoying the freedom of being loved and being able to walk around without being bound by a 10 foot chain, that not only imprisoned her, but also her spirit. What ever it takes for her happiness is my priority.' (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-10-00620Ava (female)
Ava is a great dog, recently had puppies, was an accidental litter. She has become aggressive with our dogs most likely due to the puppies. We are unable to keep her anymore for the aggression to my other dogs and she tends to be a little aggressive with my girlfriend for unknown reasons. We have two kids and she does good with them. We have also been battling fleas and starting to over come slowly. I just hope someone can help her. She would be a lot better with someone who doesn't already have a dog. She is timid around new people at first and slowly warms up.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Mastiff in Ohio
Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
