Rescue Me ID: 16-08-24-00079Lucas (male)
Lucas is a stunning 18 month old Cane Corso mastiff. He will be a wonderful companion for the adopter that is experienced with the breed and their traits. Lucas is an 'alpha' male and is learning socialization. He knows basic commands and will perform them for a reward. He has mild food/resource guarding but is easily re-directed. We will only consider homes that have no children under teens and adopters who have owned and are very familiar with the breed. Lucas is 110 pounds and has a longer docked tail. Email email@example.com for an application. For more information on Lucas or any of our other adoptable dogs follow us on Face book at R.E.A.L. Rottweiler Rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-15-00214Toro (male)
Toro is 8 years old Boerboel, South African Mastiff and he is about 170 lbs. He's more of a grumpy old man, so he requires a pretty firm hand. Toro is extremely dominant and needs someone who is willing to be his boss. Toro will not be kind to other dogs that do not submit to him, even if they are small and he will kill cats. Despite his grittiness, he is a very affectionate dog, he loves head scratches and hot dogs. He always gives a warning growl to let you know he doesn't like something -he's not going to snap at you (do not take selfies with your face close to his if he doesn't know you). We have been fostering him for four months to help our neighbor our and with having two dogs and a child of our own, we cannot give him a forever home. We understand this breed is not for everyone and will make sure his forever home is a good fit on both ends. (Less)

Animal ID: KimberKimber (female)
Hi I'm Kimber! I am about 6 months old. I ended up at the shelter with my mom & my brother. Although I look more pittie like my mom, the rescue thinks I am a pit / cane corso mix because my brother was a cane corso. I am a very shy girl. I warm up pretty quick though. I am great with other dogs! Apply to adopt me today at adoptapitrescue.org under the application tab! I'm microchipped, spayed and up to date on vaccinations, and my adoption fee is $200.

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-13-00064Lucie (female)
Lucie is a 5 y.o. spayed female Mastiff. We have been fostering her with her housemate, Ladybug, since February. Lucie is a good girl, but does like to bark - she's great at warning you of noises, things going on when she's outside, etc. She's sweet and silly and a fun girl. Lucie does limp, most likely from a past torn cruciate ligament in her rear leg. My vet believes it has either healed or scarred over. She needs to be on glucosamine/chondroitin supplements to help prevent arthritis. No other health issues. Ideally, we'd like Lucie adopted with Ladybug, but it's not necessary.

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-13-00058Ladybug (female)
Lady is a 7 y.o. spayed female Mastiff we have been fostering since February (along with her housemate, Lucie). Lady is wonderful with all people and children - loves to snuggle and came from a home with a toddler. Ladybug needs to be an only dog, or adopted with Lucie. Unfortunately, she is not good with dogs other than Lucie. She is housebroken, crate trained (although will whine if crated for long periods - she is great loose in the house) and very obedient. She has a health condition called Diabetes Insipidus which requires she have a small injection twice a day. Cost of her medication is appx. $70/month. Diabetes Insipidus does not require she have daily blood checks or anything like that. This disease makes her drink water in huge amounts - so much that she'd rather drink water than eat. The injections are sub-q (just under the skin) and she knows to stand for them before her morning and evening meal. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-29-00074Buddy & Mary Jane (male)
Buddy and Mary Jane are brother and sister, a bonded pair of German Shepherd mixes. Mary Jane is 95 lbs and a very happy girl but can come on strong for her size as she is rambunctious and playful. Buddy is is the gentle giant at a whopping 140lbs. But he is just that, very relaxed and laid back, will play occasionally but prefers to hang out. They do well with other dogs if they can handle their size and playfulness. A securely fenced yard would be best as they are strong dogs! Adoption Fee $300 for the pair, adoption application online at www.maggiesmissionrescue.org

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-05-00350Ollie (male)
Hello everyone! I'm Ollie and I am waiting to meet YOU! I'm about 6 years old, an easygoing mastiff mix who LOVES everyone, big and small. I'm not sure about cats, but I get along well with most dogs. I have a congenital leg defect which makes my back legs bend inwards, but I don't let that stop me AT ALL - even though I am a big boy I can move FAST when I want to. I ride great in the car and enjoy getting out and about, sniffing the grass and checking out my surroundings. But most of all I like to give kisses and get cuddles, the more the better. So, if you like big dogs with big hearts, maybe I could be the one for you. Watch me in action and find out more about me from one of my favorite shelter volunteers on Youtube! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-03-17-00042Skye (female)
Skye is an approx. 4 year old, spayed, female Neapolitan Mastiff. She is a people lover! She wants to meet everyone, including children. She clearly was not socialized with other dogs properly and has a difficult time getting along because she is socially awkward. Her manners with other dogs are somewhat rude at this point. However, she has been fostered with a variety of dogs and can get along with a large, tolerant dog and experienced handling. She also would be completely content as an only dog. She should not be allowed to play with small dogs or cats because it is to hard for her to resist the urge to chase and catch them when they move quickly. Miss Skye knows how to sit, down, stay and recall on command. She walks great on leash and does not require a lot of exercise. She rides nicely in the car. She is great for medicine, nail trims and baths. She likes to play with Kongs and Nylabones, but she especially likes to shred. Like most mastiffs, she does drool, especially after drinking, but she is very good about getting her face wiped off. She is house trained and crate trained. Please consider opening your home to this great girl. She has been waiting her whole life to be loved and has much to give in return! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Mastiff in Ohio
Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
