Animal ID: A23670887Conan (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Mange (Demodectic),
 Malnourished, Abused/Neglected

Conan is a 1-2 year old Cane Corso Mix. He was brought in to the PSPCA with server demodex mange. Conan currently lives with me in foster care. Due to the severity of his history of mange he associates his body with pain. He is very timind, shy and fearful. Once he is comfortable with you and learns that your touch isn't painful, he becomes more outgoing. Although Conan is shy and timid, he really blossoms around other dogs. He currently lives with a 4 year old Pitbull Mix and they are the best of friends. He plays, jumps, barks, rolls around and becomes an entirely different dog. Therefor, it would be best for him to be placed in a home ... (Read More)with a big dog like him. He is considered full grown, but due to his malnourishment, he still needs to fill out more. Conan has recently had his first negative skin scrape and needs one more to be cleared of mange. He is currently on two oral meds that are very simple to give. Conan needs a home where he can take his time to become comfortable. Not necessarily a quite home, but home that would give him the time and space he needs. Conan has a deformity in his carpals from the malnourishment. It isn't painful for him, but he prefers his paws to not be touched. He is not aggressive in anyway. He is more cautious than anything. He hasn't met any children, so it is unknown how he would react to them. Since he is timid and afraid of touch he would do best in a home without any children. If you think you would like to meet Conan please contact me.Thank you. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Mastiff in Pennsylvania
Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
