|Rescue Me ID: 16-06-29-00186Bertha (female)|
Bertha is about 6 years old and believed to be a mastiff/plott mix. She weighs about 75lbs, but as you can see by her pictures, she is a big baby. We are working with her on training and she knows 'sit' and 'paw'. She has worked with Solid K9 trainer, Jeff Gellman. She walks well on a leash and does well with other dogs. Because of Bertha's size and energy, we recommend a home without small children. Do you have a spot for Bertha in your home and heart?

|Rescue Me ID: 16-06-11-00522Madison (female)|
Madison is a middle aged African Boerbol (mastiff). She is excellent with women and children, can take a little while to warm up to most men. She is very dominant and does better atound small dogs and other female dogs. Absolutely no cats. She belonged to my daughter's father and we took her in when he passed away.We live in a small home at the moment and don't have the space to keep her any longer. Her rabies vaccination just expired. I have yet to have her checked out because vets in my area are skeptical of her temperament. She needs a strong owner who is very familiar with large breeds. She walks amazingly on a leash and will play ball for hours. She is a big baby and needs a loving home in need of a loyal protector. (Less)

Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
