Rescue Me ID: 16-11-16-00477Monkey Kong (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Monkey Kong. You must have really liked my pictures to be reading this, but wait until you watch my video. I'm a 2-year-old 80lbs+ mastiff mix with puppy-like behavior. Don't let my size discourage you, my foster dad has been teaching me manners for the past two months. I'm adorable like a puppy but I know better to behave myself. Before my foster dad took me home with him, I was an owner surrender at a mandatory intake shelter in Houston. My previous family left me there because their landlord took one look at me and called me as an 'aggressive' dog. Even though my time at the shelter was scary, I'm glad it happened because ... (Read More)that's how I got to where I am today. Coming from being left outside 24/7, I've been living it up indoors at my foster dad's house with a gazillion of other foster siblings. We all play and sleep together every day and I LOVE IT. I graduated from doing my business inside the house a month ago but I don't mind going into my kennel when my foster dad leaves. I'm a big guy so I would do best with an active family and a large backyard. A fur sibling, or two, or eight would definitely be a HUGE plus! Before I let you go on to the video, I have to warn you that there have been reports of people falling in love with me and can't picture their lives without me. If this happens to you, please remain calm and send my foster dad an email. https://vimeo.com/ 191712375 I hope to meet you soon future mom and dad. Love, Monkey Kong If you're interested in Monkey Kong please contact: Duc Nguyen: duc.nguyen0514@gmail.com PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. Thank you! Mastiff    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Kirin is a 5 year old English Mastiff who is looking for her forever home. She would do best as an only dog or in a home with a submissive male. We'd love an adopter with some experience of this breed. She will bond and be protective of her person. She has a sweet one-on-one temperament and we are working with her in group settings. She was left tied to a tree for over a year and will need someone who is patient with her as she learns to trust again. She's done great with people and submissive males but not so great with female dogs. We will be very picky with homes for Kirin. If you'd like to add Kirin to your family, just fill out an ... Mastiff Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Skippy is a Mastiff mix but the only thing large about him is his heart. He has three visible legs - the fourth leg (amputated, but he doesn't know that as he still attempts to use it) is his invisible leg. He gets around just fine, in fact if you're not careful, he will pull you down the street. Skippy loves to play, cuddle and be with his people, other dogs, and eat. He's a chow hound. However, because he's hopping... we need to keep his weight down so prepare to watch his weight if you are interested in being his forever family. He's neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and ready for his forever home. If sweet Skippy is the ... Mastiff    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Apollo is a great dog. Huge in size at such young age. He doesn't know his one strength and is definetly a gentle giant. He was attacked by a German shepherd when he was about 3 months old. Poor. Aby was terrified of his own shadows for awhile. He is used to going to the dog park every weekend. However we moved about a month ago and we don't have a dog park here. It seems like now he sees a dog and barks like crazy. His size s area people of course and truth be told it scares me so I have t decided to try to let him sniff new dogs any more. He. Ever had an issue at the dog park. If anything he was known to be such a scary cat there due to ... (Read More)his attack he was afraid of all dogs. Not any more. He does great with my toy schnauzer. He is good with about 15-30 min of exercise. He just chills the rest of the day. Very loyal and loving dog. Very attached to us. He is very watchful and alert of his home and is definetly an inside dog. He doesn't like being out in the heat, cold or rain/snow. He only goes out to do his business and he's ready to get in lol... he has been around kids and does great with them he loves the love. But again his size should always be taken in mind. (Less)

Animal ID: Foster HomeBriggs (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Briggs - 3 year old Mastiff Mix - Briggs was found as a stray in Bedford and narrowly escaped death as he was misdiagnosed with several problems. After GAP rescued him our vet determined he only had a slight skin infection and a heart murmur. He is neutered and vaccinated. Briggs is a gorgeous mastiff mix and is a powerhouse. He would do well in a house with strong leadership as he is very strong and powerful. He does well at the dog park as long as other dogs are not aggressive with him, but if one is he needs to be controlled quickly. He can be leash aggressive again with dogs that are aggressive towards him. He does well with very ... (Read More)docile or playful dogs that do not show any aggression but his power and strength would not make him a good candidate for a house with smaller pets. He also has a strong prey drive so cats are out of the question for Briggs. Now for his overwhelming good qualities. He is a gentle giant to humans of all sizes. He is a happy, joyful, sensitive, devoted, and loving dog. He is a most devoted dog and will quickly become attached to someone who loves and cares for him. Some of his aggression towards other dogs may be his devotion to his foster mom who he may feel he needs to protect. Briggs will stand right in front of his foster mom and look at her with complete devotion. His focus when looking at people is very human like. While at home, he is right at her feet. Briggs has had a hard life and now that he is getting love, his gentle loving nature is obvious. He will make a best friend to someone very lucky to have him. He has a huge head and a sweet manatee face. He sleeps with his foster mom at night, doesn't snore, and is a perfect companion. He is perfectly house trained, is kenneled during the day, only barks when necessary, and rides well in the car. He listens attentively and responds well to commands. Briggs is the kind of dog that comes around once in a lifetime. If you are a good fit for this gentle giant, please consider him.     Meet Hercules! This distinguished 8 yr old Senior lost his home when his owner died. Herc was lucky enough to land with a nice family only it's been determined that Herc would be better in a home without cats or small dogs. He has done wonderful with the kids in the family, including the one year old toddler, he's just not a fan of small and furry. Hercules is truly a prime specimen of a Mastiff and deserves to live the rest of his life holding down a couch and surrounded by love. If you'd like to find out how to make Hercules your own, please contact us at info@bullpenrescue.org ... (Read More)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. The adoption app is available on our website (www.bullpenrescue.org) under the 'work with us' tab. If you choose not to fill out an application before inquiring about a particular dog, please briefly tell us about yourself, family, and lifestyle since this will help us determine if the dog you're interested in is a good match. Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a 'perfect placement' so we know that they will not be failed again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Less)

Our Whendi is just a pure sweetheart. Whendi is a 9 year old fuzzy English Mastiff. That's right, a fuzzy English Mastiff - they are not a common sight to see! She's a gorgeous girl who adores people, loves just hanging out with her person, going for a swim in the lake, short walks around the neighborhood, chasing an occasional cat, you know - typical dog stuff. She knows all her basic commands and her recall is brilliant. Think you have the space for this big beautiful girl?     Dennis is a very sweet boy who loves putting his head in his human's lap and getting belly rubs. He is a 10 month old mastiff mix that currently weighs about 60lbs. Dennis was adopted from the shelter in June. He is crate trained and working on being housebroken, he has not had any accidents in his crate and only one or two accidents in the house. He knows sit and down and is learning stay and leash manners. He loves to play but plays too rough with our other dog. He loved to fetch and chew on toys. He hates cats and has a high prey drive. He has shown some resource guarding aggression to our other dog so Dennis needs to be the only pet in ... (Read More)his forever home. We are so sad to give up Dennis, but he just doesn't do well with our other pets. (Less)

This is my Osito (little bear). He is a super sweet loving and awesome dog. Unfortunately he does not get along with cats, and I have cats...He could possibly be trained to not think they are toys, but, not sure. He's house trained, crate trained, walks well on leash, and doesn't have any food aggression. He needs some training but for the most part he is very well behaved. He's a few days over 3 years old.     Meet Ava! She is a playful, loving, and very loyal Dogo Argentino. She's typical of a Dogo in that she can be calm and gentle and also very excitable at times. Ava loves car rides and meeting new people, and is well mannered when in public. She does great on walks, though will excitedly pull at the beginning, then fall into a calm pace. Ava came to us as a hot mess! She had been in a hoarding situation for over a year without medical care and was suffering from mange, secondary skin infections, and entropion (inverted eyelids). Now that she is past her eye surgery and she is feeling better overall, her puppy side is here! At the age of 2 1/2 ... (Read More)years old, Ava is finally truly getting to enjoy life. Ava is house and crate trained, will sit and make eye contact for food and treats, and would benefit from some training for manners - something her new family can do and use as a bonding experience. Her 'special needs' are her sensitive skin and allergies. The foster family along with Ava's dermatologist have figured out what will work for her and it is in Ava's best interest to have her adoptive family continue the care she is currently receiving. It is so rewarding to have helped Ava become the happy and healthy girl she is today. Now to find her the perfect family!     'Hi Daahlings ZsaZsa here. I am back in all my glory and beauty. I was returned through no fault of my own, my previous family had life come up and the maavalous volunteers at Legacy Boxer Rescue took me right back. Let me tell you a bit about me, I'm a Boxer/Mastiff/Visula mix. So I'm a bit of a big girl with a huge heart to love a family of my very own. Momma says I'm a love bug and love my people. I love kids! I am memorized by them because they are small people that love to love on me and I return that love 10 times. I'm pretty good with other male dogs as long as they let me be in charge or at least think I'm in charge. ... (Read More)Momma says I'm dog selective, any good male dog can pull that off letting me think I'm in charge. On the weekends my foster daddy camps out with me, that is sleeps in the other bedroom with just me and I love that part. I'm a cuddler for sure. I also think that TV is the bomb! I lounge on the couch and watch TV,the only problem with that is no one feeds me treats and fans me, such a life. I'm a laid back girl with a small bark but momma always says it'll be a huge surprise if someone breaks in our home because my bark is small but then they'll see me and run!! If you want to know more about me, please contact the good people at Legacy Boxer Rescue and they'll get you in touch with my foster momma and we'll set up a date. PIease Read Before Adopting a Mastiff in Texas
Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
