Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Blu is 80lbs, housebroken, crate trained, walks well on a leash, Ok with resident dog after brief walking introduction. Is sometimes slightly dog reactive to unknown dogs. He is submissive to my smaller, older dog. He can be jealous and always wants all the attention. Will interject himself if another dog is receiving attention. I think he will be better as the one and only in a home where the owner wants a good walking dog and is home to spend a lot of time with him. He is a Velcro dog. Has not been around young children under the age of 10. Will be good with older children who know how to properly care for and treat dogs. He loves ... (Read More)to snuggle. Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Miracle is a stunning and loving dog who was found as a stray. No one came to claim her and her time was up, so DC PAWS came to her rescue. We have no idea how no one is looking for her... she is a wonderful dog who was well trained by her last humans. She has a calm disposition, does well around other dogs and people. We haven't cat tested her yet, but can if your home includes a feline. It appears she had a litter of puppies somewhat recently, but we are not sure if she was otherwise used as a breeding dog. Her hobbies are going to the dog park, sunbathing, and pretending to be a lap dog. She simply loves her humans and bonds quickly.

HERCULES WILL ONLY BE ADOPTED TO AN EXPERIENCED CANE CORSO / GUARDIAN BREED HOME. ABOUT ME: Hercules is a gorgeous 18 month old Cane Corso kid that is looking for an extra-special home. Herc needs to find a family that will work with him to build his confidence and make him into the awesome dog that he is meant to be! Before he came to rescue, nobody ever took the time to train or socialize Hercules. Instead, he was passed from owner to owner until he finally ended up at the pound in San Antonio. He was adopted by another individual from the shelter, but they ended up dumping him with a Great Dane rescue in Texas. The Dane rescue ... (Read More)reached out to us and we said YES!! WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: Hercules is a loving, friendly and affectionate boy who loves to run, play and explore in the yard. He is living with dogs of all sizes at his foster home, and gets along great with the girls, although sometimes the small dogs make him nervous. Therefore, we think he would do best in a home with a large, confident female dog. We haven't had a chance to observe Hercules around cats, so we'd prefer to place him in a home without felines. Mr. H can be fearful around loud noises, so we think an adult-only home, or a family with teenage children, would be the right fit. Due to his sad past, Hercules has moderate to severe separation anxiety. He doesn't want to be away from his people for more than 15-20 minutes, and will escape from a regular crate if given the chance. His new family must therefore be willing to purchase a heavy duty crate for him, as well as work patiently with him while he learns to trust again. Hercules' new family should also be willing to consult a professional trainer or behaviorist, and should be open to the idea that Herc may need to take daily medicine to help minimize his anxiety. THE DETAILS: Hercules is diligently working on his housebreaking skills and has gotten much better on the leash. His foster dad is helping him learn basic obedience, and will need to continue his training with his new family. Hercules is vaccinated, neutered, heartworm negative and microchipped. Ready to give Hercules the forever home of his dreams? Fill out our Adoption Application, located at under the 'work with us' tab. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a 'perfect placement' so we know that they will not be failed again. (Less)

Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
