Rescue Me ID: 17-01-22-00200Suzie (female)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia

Suzie is 3/4 cane corso mastiff and 1/4 bull mastiff. She is 1 year old and her birthday is January 24th. She is up to date on shots and fixed. She is also microchiped. She is very loveable and very energetic. When she is happy or excited she smiles. Some people confuse it with bearing her teeth because they have never seen a dog smile before. I decided to teach her to smile because I thought it would be cute. And it's cuter than you can imagine. Suzie does love to play and she is a big strong dog that tends to play a bit rough. She needs plenty of toys to play with and her favorite is tug of war. She is even happy using your hand ... (Read More)as her play toy. She is not aggressive. She is happy sleeping in bed with you. Suzie does love to chew things, so if you go anywhere I would suggest putting her in a crate. We do require the new owner to own their own home with a fenced in yard. Suzie is not a fan of car rides. But I'm sure she will get used to it. She has grown up in a home with 2 toddlers and another dog (smaller dog). She and the other dog are best friends. They cuddle and love each other and play with each other (surprisingly the small dog loves suzie rough play) her new home must also allow her to be a family dog living inside the home. We will not allow her to go to a home who plans to keep her outside most of the time. She is not to be kenneled outside. She should be a family dog living in the home with the ability to play outside when she wants to. Suzie does have allergies that seem to become an issue for her during the warm months. She also has a slight onset of hip dysplasia. The new family must be aware of how expensive it is to care for a big mastiff dog and be on top of all her medical needs. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Mastiff in Wisconsin
Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Wisconsin if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
