Mindy is a healthy pedigree English Mastiff with no medical problems (almost 6 years old). She does however have issues with other dogs (lunging and attacking without warning) and children (skittish and unsure). It is because of our concerns for our other dogs and grandchildren that we have decided she needs to be re homed. If we CAN'T find an appropriate person to take her we have decided we will have her put down. She has a somewhat anxious nature and will therefore not respond well to physical discipline, however she needs firm leadership in order that she may feel safe and secure. She has never bitten a person but she is not a dog to be trusted with children. Her problem with dogs is that she lunges without warning and her attacks are viscous. ( other animals eg; our chooks don't seem to pose a problem) Otherwise she has a gentle nature. Loves to lie in front of the fire or in the sun. Doesn't need walking. (Less)

Mastiff Dogs can make good pets in Australia if they match your IifestyIe. The Old English Mastiff is a massive breed. Mastiffs are very gentle toward their families. This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
