Rescue Me ID: 15-03-01-00655Baxter (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Baxter is a fantastic 2 year old Mastiff / Staffy X. He's a big boy and requires an experienced handler who can provide regular training and guidance, who has lots of space (someone with land would be ideal) and who has other dogs. He is incredibly well socialised with other dogs, loves them, and even has a soft spot for our cat. Although i'm not sure how he would be with other cats! He loves a cuddle, and brings his favourite toys as gifts when you come home. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we have had to make the difficult decision to rehome him. Baxter would be much happier in the country / or with someone who has land, ... (Read More)where he has space to run around. He would be best homed with other dogs, and without children. He has never been around them. He is microchipped, has flea treatment monthly, worming treatment quarterly, is desexed, has all vaccinations up to date, along with a recent heartworm injection. We have a trainer who will be involved in the adoption process,. We would like to have a couple of meetings, and see where Baxter would be living, to assess suitability. Its very important to us that Baxter has a happy home. The adoption fee will be donated to Rescue Me. (Less)

This is an intelligent, protective breed that makes a good guard dog but is unlikely to attack unless severely provoked. Mastiffs behave well with children but should be watched with little ones because of their large size. Mastiffs need gentle training and socialization from an early age. Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
